ToggleCall towards Deen by Prophets and Messengers
Allah (SWT) entrusted all His Messengers and Prophets to preach His Deen to the people of their respective communities. They got Scriptures, Revelations, Inspirations, Divine knowledge, and Mu’jeza from Him in order to perform their responsibilities properly. Moreover, they were free from all kinds of sins and belonged to the admirable and exemplary character. They were assigned to call their people towards monotheism, convey Allah’s messages, give glad tidings of eternal happiness of paradise, and warn people about the severe punishment of Hell as the consequences of doing transgressions and evil deeds. They spoke to their people nicely and their manners and behaviors were excellent with them. They made their best efforts to make reforms and guide their people to the righteous path. They served their nations not for any personal gain or benefit, as their rewards were kept reserved with their Lord Almighty Allah. All the prophets and messengers were advised to call their people towards Deen of Allah (SWT) with wisdom and in an excellent manner:
“…….The responsibility of the messengers is clear propagation. Indeed, We have sent a messenger to every nation (with the message that): ‘Worship Allah, and shun the Devil.’ Allah guided some of them, while for others misguidance became inevitable. So, travel through the earth, and see what the fate of the deniers was.” (16:35 – 36)
“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good advice, and debate with them (disbelievers) in the most dignified manner. Your Lord is aware of those who stray from His path, and He is aware of those who are rightly guided.” (16:125)

I fear for you the agony of a painful Day.’ The celebrities who disbelieved among his people said, ‘We see in you nothing but a man like us, and we see that only the worst among us have followed you, those of immature Judgement. And we see that you have no advantage over us. In fact, we think you are liars.’ He said, ‘O my people, have you thought? If I stand on clear evidence from my Lord, and He has given me a mercy from Himself, but you were blind to it, can we compel you to accept it, even though you dislike it? O my people! I ask of you no remuneration for it. My reward lies only with Allah. And I am not about to dismiss those who believed; they will surely meet their Lord. And I see that you are ignorant people. O my people! Who will support me against Allah, if I dismiss them (the poor believers)? Will you not give a thought? I do not say to you that I possess the treasures of Allah, nor do I know the future, nor do I say that I am an angel. Nor do I say of those who are mean in your eyes that Allah will never give them any good. Allah is Aware of what lies in their souls. If I did, I would be one of the wrongdoers’.” (11:25 – 31)

I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous Day.’ The dignitaries among his people said, ‘We see that you are in obvious error.’ He said, ‘O my people, I am not in error, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds. I deliver to you the messages of my Lord, and I advise you, and I know from Allah what you do not know. Do you wonder when a reminder has come to you from your Lord, through a man from among you, to warn you, and to lead you to righteousness, so that you may obtain mercy?’ But they called him a liar. So, We saved him and those with him in the Ark, and We drowned those who rejected Our revelations. They were blind people.” (7:59 – 64)

“And mention in the Scripture (story of) Ibrahim. Indeed, he was a man of truth, a prophet. He said to his father, ‘O my father, why do you worship what can neither hear, nor see, nor benefit you in any way? O my father, there has come to me knowledge that never came to you. So, follow me, and I will guide you along a straight way. O my father, do not worship Satan. Satan is disobedient to the Most Gracious. O my father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious will afflict you, and you become an ally of Satan.’ He (father) said, ‘Are you renouncing my gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist, I will stone you to death. So, leave me for good.’ He (Ibrahim) said, ‘Peace be upon you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been Kind to me. And I will withdraw from you, and from what you pray to instead of Allah. And I will pray to my Lord, and I hope I will not be disappointed in my prayer to my Lord’.” (19:41 – 48)

“(Ibrahim said) ‘By Allah, I will have a plan for your idols after you have gone away.’ So, he broke them into pieces, except for their biggest, that they may return to it. They (people of Ibrahim ) exclaimed, ‘Who did this to our gods? He is certainly one of the wrongdoers.’ They said, ‘We heard a youth mentioning them. He is called Ibrahim.’ They said, ‘Bring him before the eyes of the people, so that they may witness.’ They said, ‘Are you the one who did this to our gods, O Ibrahim?’ He said, but it was the biggest of them that did it. Ask them, if they can speak.’ Then they turned to one another, and said, ‘You yourselves are the wrongdoers.’ (21:57 – 64)

But We delivered him (Ibrahim ) and (his nephew) Loot (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations.” (21:68 – 71)
Call of Prophet Loot () to Homosexual Community
Prophet Loot () was assigned for the people of the city of Gomorrah in Palestine who were indulged in different types of notoriety and sinful acts. Among these the worst one was homosexuality. They used to have sex openly in public places with males. Loot () was sent to call them to the right path of Allah (SWT). He warned them saying: ‘you are the only people who are engaged in such shameful homosexuality ever done on the earth. If you don’t discard this sinful act, you will be crushed by Allah’s punishment. So, don’t transgress, and come back to Allah’s path.’ (29:28-29, 26:167). But they did not pay heed, rather continued their evil deeds as usual. Moreover, they threatened to oust him from the city if he went on opposing their activities. Even they asked him to bring the punishment, if he was truthful. Being frustrated by their arrogance and denials Prophet Loot () prayed to Allah (SWT) to send punishment upon these transgressors. Almighty Allah responded to his prayer and sent His angels to punish them grievously. Allah (SWT) saved Loot () and other members of family except his wife, who was a supporter of the evildoers.

This is by virtue of Allah’s grace upon us and upon the people, but most people do not give thanks. ‘O My fellow inmates, are diverse lords better, or Allah, the One, the Supreme?’ You do not worship, besides Him, except names you have named, you and your ancestors, for which Allah has sent down no authority. Give full measure and full weight, in all fairness, and do not cheat the people out of their rights, and do not spread corruption in the land. And I am not a guardian over you.’ They said, ‘O Shuaib, does your prayer command you that we abandon what our ancestors worshiped, or doing with our wealth as we want? Call of Prophet Musa () to Fer’awn
Prophet Musa () and his brother Prophet Haroon () were sent to Fir’awn, the King of Egypt who enslaved the people of Bani Israel and persecuted them brutally. Allah (SWT) advised Musa () to invite Fir’awn nicely towards Allah’s Deen, and then to ask him to let people of Bani Israel free. But his egoism, pride and arrogance led him to reject Musa’s () call. Rather he started more oppression and repression upon them. At last Allah (SWT) instructed Musa () to leave Egypt along with Bani Israel crossing the Red Sea. Fir’awn and his force chased them. Allah (SWT) helped Musa () and Bani Israel to cross the sea while Fir’awn and his army were drowned and totally destroyed. Thus, Allah (SWT) delivered Bani Israel from the tyrannies of Fir’awn. The following verses give the description of this event.
“(Allah said: O Musa) ‘And I made you for Myself. Go, you and your brother, with My signs, and do not neglect My remembrance. Go to Fer’awn (Pharaoh). He has tyrannized. But speak to him nicely. Perhaps he will remember, or have some fear.’ They said, ‘Lord, we fear he may persecute us, or become violent.’ He said, ‘Do not fear, I am with you, I hear and I see.’ Approach him and say: ‘We are the messengers of your Lord; so, let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not torment them. We bring you a sign from your Lord, and peace be upon him who follows the guidance. It was revealed to us that the punishment falls upon him who disbelieves and turns away.’ He (Fer’awn) said, “Who is your Lord, O Musa?’ He (Musa) said, ‘Our Lord is He who gave everything its existence, then guided it.’ He (Fer’awn) said, ‘What about the past generations?” He replied, “Knowledge thereof is with my Lord, in a Book. My Lord never errs, nor does He forget.” (20:41 – 52)

“Musa said, ‘My Lord is well aware of him who brings guidance from Him, and him who will have the sequel of the abode. So, fire up the bricks for me O Hamaan, and build me a tower, that I may ascend to the God of Musa, though I think he is a liar.’ He and his troops acted arrogantly in the land, with no justification. They thought they would not be returned to Us. So, We seized him, and his troops, and We threw them into the sea. Observe, therefore, what was the end of the oppressors.” (28:37 – 40)

“Musa said, ‘O Fer’awn, I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds. It is only proper that I should not say about Allah anything other than the truth. I have come to you with clear evidence from your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with me.’ He said, ‘If you brought a miracle, then present it, if you are truthful.’ So, he threw his staff, and it was an apparent serpent. And He pulled out his hand, and it was white to the onlookers. The notables among Fer’awn’s people said, ‘This is really a skilled magician.’ (Fer’awn said) ‘He wants to evict you from your land, so what do you recommend?’ They said, “Give him and his brother respite, and send heralds to the cities. And let them bring you every skillful magician.’ Indeed, the magicians came to Fer’awn, and said, ‘Surely there is a reward for us, if we are the victors.’ He said, ‘Yes, and you will be among my favorites.’ They said, ‘O Musa! Either you throw, or we are the ones to throw.’ He said, ‘You throw!’ And when they threw, they beguiled the eyes of the people, and intimidated them, and produced mighty magic.” (7:104 – 117)

“And We inspired Musa: ‘Throw your staff.’ And at once, it swallowed what they were faking. So, the truth came to pass, and what they were producing went away futile. There they were defeated, and utterly reduced. And the magicians fell to their knees. They said, ‘We have believed in the Lord of the Worlds. The Lord of Musa and Haroon’. Fer’awn said, ‘Did you believe in Him before I have given you permission? This is surely a conspiracy you schemed in the city, in order to expel its people from it. You will surely know. I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will crucify you all.’ They said, ‘It is to our Lord that we will return. You are taking vengeance on us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when these have come to us.’ ‘Our Lord! Pour out patience upon us, and receive our souls in submission’.” (7:118 – 126)

Prophet Musa’s () call to Bani Israel
The ‘Tourat’, the Book of Allah, was revealed to Musa () for the true guidance of his people. He preached Allah’s Deen to the people of Bani Israel following the instructions of the Tourat, and reminded them of Allah’s favors towards them so that they might be patient and thankful to Him. The verse on this topic is quoted below:
“We sent Musa with Our signs: ‘Bring your people out of darkness into light and remind them of the Days of Allah. In that there are signs for every patient and thankful person.’ Musa said to his people, ‘Remember Allah’s blessings upon you, as He delivered you from the people of Fer’awn, who inflicted on you terrible suffering, slaughtering your sons while sparing your daughters. In that there was a serious trial from your Lord.’ And when your Lord proclaimed: ‘If you give thanks, I will grant you increase; but if you are ungrateful, My punishment is severe.’ And Musa said, even if you are ungrateful, together with everyone on earth – Allah is in no need, Worthy of Praise’.” (14:5 – 8)

Call of Prophet Sulaimaan () to Queen of Saba
Bilqis, the Queen of Saba in Yemen, and her people were the worshippers of the sun instead of Allah (SWT). Having received this information from ‘Hudhud’ (the hoopoe-bird), the King Prophet Sulaimaan () sent a letter to the Queen with the message: “It is from Sulaimaan and is (as follows): ‘In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful’: Be you not arrogant against me, but come to me in submission (to the true Religion).” (27:30-31). The Queen consulted with his courtiers and chieftains, and thoughtfully and positively responded to the call of Sulaimaan (). The verses cited below are related to his call to Queen of Saba:

“She (Queen of Saba) said, ‘O Courtiers, a gracious letter was delivered to me. It is from Sulaimaan and is (as follows): ‘In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful: ‘Be you not arrogant against me, but come to me in submission (to the true Religion)’. (27:29 – 31)

“She (Bilqis) said: ‘You chiefs! advise me in (this) my affair: no affair have I decided except in your presence.’ They said: ‘We are endued with strength, and given to vehement war: but the command is with you; so, consider what you wilt command.’ She said: ‘Kings, when they enter a country, despoil it, and make the noblest of its people its meanest thus do they behave. ‘But I am going to send him a present, and (wait) to see with what (answer) return (my) ambassadors.” (27:32 – 35)

“Now when (the envoy) came to Sulaimaan, he said: ‘Will you give me abundance in wealth? But that which Allah has given me is better than that which He has given you! Nay it is you who rejoice in your gift! Go back to them, and be sure we shall come to them with such hosts as they will never be able to meet: We shall expel them from there in disgrace, and they will feel humbled (indeed)’.” (27:36 – 37)

“He (Sulaimaan ) said (to his own men): ‘You chiefs! which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?’ Said an Ifrit of the Jinn: ‘I will bring it to you before you rise from your council: indeed, I have full strength for the purpose, and may be trusted.’ Said one who had knowledge of the Book: ‘I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!” Then when (Sulaimaan ) saw it placed firmly before him, he said: ‘This is by the Grace of my Lord! – to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! and if any is grateful, truly his gratitude is (a gain) for his own soul; but if any is ungrateful, truly my Lord is Free of all Needs, Supreme in Honor’!” (27:38 – 40)

“He (Sulaimaan ) said: ‘Transform her throne out of all recognition by her: let us see whether she is guided (to the truth) or is one of those who receive no guidance.’ So, when she arrived, she was asked, ‘Is this your throne?’ She said, ‘It was just like this; and (Sulaimaan said) ‘we were bestowed knowledge in advance of this, and we have submitted to Allah (in Islam)’.” (27:41 – 42)

“And that which she used to worship besides Allah prevented her (from Truth) for she was indeed from a disbelieving people. She was asked to enter the lofty Palace: but when she saw it, she thought it was a lake of water, and she (tucked up her skirts), uncovering her legs. He (Sulaimaan ) said: ‘This is but a palace paved smooth with slabs of crystal glass.’ She said: ‘O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul: I do (now) submit (in Islam), with Sulaimaan, to the Lord of the Worlds’.” (27:43 – 44)
Call of Prophet Isa () to Bani Israel Community
“Indeed, they are disbelievers who say, ‘Allah certainly is the Masih Ibne Maryam.’ But the Masih (Isa) himself said, ‘O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Whoever associates others with Allah, Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his dwelling is the Fire. The wrongdoers have no saviors’.” (5:72)
“O Believers! Be helpers of Allah, as Isa, son of Maryam said to the disciples, ‘Who are my helpers towards Allah?’ The disciples said, ‘We are Allah’s helpers.’ So, a group of the Children of Israel believed, while another group disbelieved. We supported those who believed against their foe, so they became victorious over them.” (61:14)
Call of Prophet Ilyas () to his Community
“Also, Ilyas was one of the messengers. He said to his people, ‘Do you not fear? Do you call on Baal (name of a false god), and forsake the Best of creators? Allah is your Lord, and the Lord of your ancestors’.” (37:123 – 126)

“A believing man from the community of Fer’awn, who had concealed his faith, said, ‘Are you going to kill a man for saying, My Lord is Allah, and he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? If he is a liar, his lying will rebound upon him; but if he is truthful, then some of what he promises you will befall you. Allah does not guide him who exceeds the limit and is a liar.’ ‘O my people! Yours is the dominion today, and are dominant in the land; but who will help us against Allah’s punishment, should it fall upon us?’ Fer’awn said, ‘I do not show you except what I see correct, and I do not guide you except to the path of prudence’.” (40:28 – 29)

“The man who believed said further: ‘O my people! Follow me: I will lead you to the Right Path.’ ‘O my people! This worldly life is nothing but (temporary) convenience: It is the Hereafter that is the Home that will last. How (strange) it is for me to call you to Salvation while you call me to the Fire! You do call upon me to blaspheme against Allah, and to join with Him partners of whom I have no knowledge; and I call you to the Exalted in Power, the most Forgiving.” (40:38 – 42)

Soon will you remember what I say to you (now), My (own) affair I commit to Allah, for Allah (ever) watches over His Servants.’ Then Allah saved him from (every) evils that they plotted (against him), but the burnt of the Penalty encompassed on all sides of the People of Fer’awn.” (40:43 – 45)
