ToggleThe Qur’an Refutes False Concepts about Allah (SWT)
The misguided people of different periods not only committed Shirk and Kufr but also committed falsehood and transgression against Allah (SWT). They thoughtlessly cherished impious concepts about Allah in their minds and acted accordingly. Many human communities continued to believe ancestral misconceptions about Allah, demeaning His purity, glory, and authority. They ascribed Allah (SWT) with attributes of human imperfection and weakness out of ignorance. Some of the gross misconceptions are: Allah has begotten children, He assigned partnership in His power, He appointed intercessors, etc. They also belied the Prophets of Allah, His Books and His Angels, and denied the Day of Resurrection and Judgement and so on
These falsifiers were repeatedly cautioned by the Prophets and Messengers of Allah (SWT) against such unfounded and misleading concepts. But they paid no heed to such warnings, instead, they remained arrogant on the excuse that they had been following the beliefs of their forefathers – although their ancestors were ignorant and erroneous people. As a result of cherishing such false concepts and following the wrong path, they earned the wrath of Almighty Allah in this world and ultimately will face severe punishment in the hereafter. . Regarding such misconceptions, Allah (SWT) says:
“(Allah) will judge between you on the Day of Judgement concerning the matters in which you differ.” (22:69)
“Who is eviler than he who lies about Allah, and denies the truth when it has come to him? Is not Hell the abode for the Kafir (Deniers)?” (39:32)
“Likewise, their gods made it fair to the sight of many idolaters to kill their children, in order to lead them to their ruin, and confuse them in their religion. Had Allah willed, they would not have done it; so, leave them to their falsehood.” (6:137)
“……. Who does greater wrong than he who invents lies and attributes them to Allah, in order to mislead people without knowledge? Allah does not guide the wicked people.” (6:144)
“And do not mix truth with falsehood, and do not conceal the truth while you know.” (2:42)
“Woe on that Day to the deniers. ‘Eat and enjoy yourselves a little; you are indeed sinners.’ Woe on that Day to the liars. And when they are told to bow, they do not bow. Woe on that Day to the rejecters. So, in what will they believe after this message (the Qur’an)?” (77:45 – 50)
“On the Day when Allah will resurrect them altogether—they will swear to Him, as they swear to you, thinking that they are upon something. Indeed, they themselves are the liars. Satan has taken hold of them, and so has caused them to forget the remembrance of Allah. These are the partisans of Satan. Indeed, it is Satan’s partisans who are the losers.” (58:18 – 19)

“But as for those who reject Our revelations, and are too arrogant to accept them – these are the inmates of the Fire, where they will remain forever. Who does greater wrong than he who invents lies about Allah, or denies His revelations? These – their share of the decree will reach them. Until, when Our angels come to them, to take their souls away, they will say, ‘Where are they whom you used to pray to besides Allah?’ They will say, ‘They have abandoned us,’ and they will testify against themselves that they were faithless.” (7:36 – 37)
“And when they commit lewdness, they say, ‘We found our parents doing this, and Allah has commanded us to do it.’ Say, ‘Allah does not command obscenities. Are you attributing to Allah what you do not know’?” (7:28)
“Those who reject Our revelations are deaf and dumb, in total darkness. (6:39)

“Who does greater wrong than someone who invents falsehood against Allah, or says, ‘It was revealed to me,’ when nothing was revealed to him, or says, ‘I will reveal the like of what Allah revealed?’ If only you could see the wrongdoers in the pain of death, as the angels say stretching their hands: ‘Give up your souls. Today you are being repaid with the torment of shame for having said about Allah other than the truth, and for being too proud to accept His revelations’.” (6:93)

“Or were they created without a creator, or were they themselves their creators? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Indeed, they have no firm belief. Or are the Treasures of your Lord with them, or are they the managers (of all affairs)? Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof.” (52:35 – 38)

“These are Allah’s Verses which We recite to you in truth. In which message, after Allah and His revelations, will they believe? Woe to every sinful liar – who hears Allah’s revelations being recited to him, yet he persists arrogantly, as though he did not hear them. Announce to him a painful punishment. And when he learns something of Our revelations, he takes them in mockery. For such there is a disgraceful punishment.” (45:6 – 9)

They rejected it (truth) in the past, and made allegations (against truth) from a far-off place. A barrier will be placed between them and what they desire, as was done formerly with their counterparts. They were in baffling doubt.” (34:52 – 54)

So as to show ingratitude for what We have given to them. Enjoy yourselves – you will soon know (the consequences). Allah created the heavens and the earth with justice, so that every soul will be repaid for what it has earned. And they will not be wronged. Have you considered him who has taken his desire as his god? Allah has knowingly led him astray, and has sealed his hearing and his heart, and has placed a veil over his vision. And We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection, on their faces, blind, dumb, and deaf. Their abode is Hell; whenever it abates, We intensify the blaze for them. This is their recompense for having blasphemed against Our revelations, and having said, ‘Shall we, when we have become bones and fragments, be resurrected as a new creation?’ Do they not consider that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, is Able to create the likes of them? He has assigned for them a term, in which there is no doubt. But the wrongdoers persist in denying the truth.” (17:97 – 99)

“Who does greater wrong than he, who, when reminded of his Lord’s revelations, turns away from them, and forgets what his hands have put forward? We have placed coverings over their hearts, lest they understand it, and deafness in their ears. And if you call them to guidance, they will not be guided, ever.” (18:57)
No Parity or Partnership with Allah (SWT)
Allah (SWT) is the One and Unique. He has no partner, no comparison, and no parallel. But misguided people take some imaginative objects as partners with the Almighty Allah and worship them. They take them as the source of their well-being and woe, and so they seek help from them. These people make images of their false gods and worship them as their deities. They think that these are the means of their emancipation. Actually, these false gods have no power to do good or bad, even for themselves. Such a belief is nothing but an illusion that leads to bitter consequences.
Verses of the Qur’an on this topic are cited below:
“Say (O Prophet): He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, entirely Independent (free of all needs); He begets not, nor was He begotten; And there is none comparable to Him.” (112:1 – 4)
“And do not invoke with Allah any other god. There is no god but He. All things perish, except His entity. His is the Authority, and to Him you will be returned.” (28:88)
“Allah will not forgive (sin of) ascribing partners with Him; but He will forgive any lesser sins than that to whom He pleases: one who associates other gods with Allah, has strayed into far error.” (4:116)

“Behold! sincere worship is due to Allah only. But those people who take others as partners of Allah (say): ‘We only serve them in order that they may bring us nearer to Allah.’ Surely Allah will judge between them in that wherein they differ. But Allah does not guide those who are false and ungrateful.” (39:3)

No Intercession without Permission of Allah (SWT)
Some people practice polytheism and idolatry in the hope that their gods will intercede with Allah for their well-being and emancipation. In the Holy Qur’an, Allah (SWT) has refuted such a wrong perception. The following verses of the Qur’an clearly denounce such notions:
“And they worship, besides Allah, which neither harms them nor benefits them. And they say, ‘These are our intercessors with Allah.’ Say, ‘Are you informing Allah about what He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?’ Glorified be He, High above what they associate with Him.” (10:18)

“Or have they chosen intercessors other than Allah? Say, ‘Even though they have no power over anything, and are devoid of reason?’ Say, ‘All intercession is up to Allah. To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned’.” (39:43 – 44)

“Give this warning to those in whose (hearts) is the fear that they will be brought (to Judgement) before their Lord: except for Him they will have no protector nor intercessor: that they may guard (against evil).” (6:51)

“They (Prophets and Messengers) do not speak before He speaks, and they act (in all things) by His Command. He knows what is before them, and what is behind them, and they offer no intercession except for those who are acceptable, and they stand in awe and reverence of His (Glory).” (21:27 – 28)

“(On the Day of Judgement Allah will say) “And behold! you have come to us bare and alone as We created you for the first time: you have left behind you all (the favors) which We bestowed on you: We are not seeing you with your intercessors whom you thought to be partners in your affairs: so now all relations between you have been cut off, and your (pet) fancies have left you in the lurch!” (6:94)

“On the Day when Qiyamah will befell, the guilty will be struck dumb with despair. No intercessor will they have among their partners and they will (themselves) reject their partners. (30:12 – 13)
No Offspring of Allah (SWT)
One of the worst misconceptions about Allah (SWT) is that He has begotten offspring. It is utterly an absurd concept, as Allah (SWT) is the Creator of all things, He is the One and Unique, He is Ever-living and Eternal, All-Powerful and All-Knowing. And moreover, He is beyond any need. He has no partner, no companion, no race, and no gender. So, He doesn’t need any offspring to inherit Him. If Allah (SWT) had children, Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) would have been commanded to worship them, but he was sent to remind people to worship the One and Only Allah. The claim of Christianity about Jesus that he is the son of God has been strongly refuted in the Qur’an.
The verses relating to above topic are quoted below:
“No indeed! It is one of their lies when they say. ‘Allah has begotten.’ They are indeed lying.” (37:151 – 152)
“He begets not, nor was He begotten;” (112:3 – 4)
“And they say, ‘The Most Merciful has taken to Himself a son.’ Be He is Pure from this; they are but honored servants.” (21:26)

“That is Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam – the Word of truth about which they doubt. It is not for Allah to have a child – Glory be to Him. To have anything done, He says to it, ‘Be’, and it becomes. ‘Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path’.” (19:34 – 36)

“And to warn those who say, ‘Allah has begotten a son.’ They have no knowledge of this, nor did their forefathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths. They say nothing but a lie.” (18:4 – 5)

“And they say, ‘The Most Merciful has begotten a son.’ You have come up with something monstrous. Because of this (speech) the heavens almost rupture, and the earth splits, and the mountains fall and crumble. Because they attribute a son to the Most Merciful. It is not fitting for the Most Merciful to have a son. There is none in the heavens and the earth but will come to the Most Merciful as a servant.” (19:88 – 93)

None but Allah (SWT) knows ‘Al-Ghayb’
Allah (SWT) is the ‘Alim Al-Ghayb’ – the Knower of all that is unseen, invisible, and hidden. It is only He who knows about the matters of ‘Al-Ghayb’. None, even the prophets and messengers, were given the knowledge of ‘Al-Ghayb’ except what Allah (SWT) intended. The soothsayers and fortunetellers who claim to have knowledge of destiny and the future can only fabricate lies and make assumptions. Allah (SWT) revealed some specific things from ‘Al-Ghayb’ to keep a firm belief in them, which cannot be checked, verified, or ascertained physically. So, accepting such unprovable things as facts is a matter of faith. The knowledge of ‘Al-Ghayb’ includes knowledge about Allah Himself, His Angels, Akhirah, Qiyamah, Jannat, Jahannam, and so on. To have belief in ‘Al-Ghayb’ is one of the “Articles of Faith” in Islam. The verses on this topic are quoted below.
“Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them; And those who believe in the Revelations sent to you, and sent before your time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.” (2:3-4)
“He is the One who knows the ghayb (unseen), and He reveals His ghayb to none, except to the messenger He is pleased with, so He sends guards before of him and behind him so that He knows that they (the messengers) have conveyed the messages of their Lord (properly). He encompasses what they have and He has reckoned everything in number.” (72:26 – 28)
