بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate All praises to Almighty Allah (SWT) – the Lord of the universes, Who revealed the Holy Qur’an for the guidance of all mankind. Darood and Salam to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), Ahl al-Bayt, Sahaba-e-Keram, and all believing men and women. I bear witness that there is no God to be worshipped but Allah, and Muhammad (ﷺ) is Allah’s slave and messenger. I affirm with conviction that Allah (SWT) revealed the Holy Qur’an to His Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). I further believe in all the other Divine Books of Allah revealed before the Holy Qur’an.
The Qur’an – the last and final Scripture of Allah (SWT) has been revealed in Arabic which is one of the oldest and richest languages in the world. When recited, the simple, forthright, and lucid descriptions of its verses attract the human mind deeply. Its call is universal and its teaching is equally applicable to people of all languages. In order to overcome the language barrier, the Qur’an has been translated into almost all major languages along with its interpretations for better understanding.
The Qur’an repeatedly calls upon people of all nations and languages to reflect, think, and contemplate the signs of Allah (SWT) spread over the universe. Many important issues in human life, a lot of beneficial advice, a number of historical facts, and requisite lessons, along with necessary examples and parables, have been discussed in the Qur’an for thoughtful consideration and true guidance of all. So, it is the most important task of every Muslim man and woman to regularly read the Holy Qur’an in order to shape their own lives according to the teachings of the Qur’an.
In the Qur’an, verses on a specific topic are dispersed throughout various Surahs and sections, rather than being found in one place. Therefore, to comprehend the Qur’an’s messages on a particular subject, it is necessary to gather the relevant verses together under that specific topic. With this in mind, similar verses from the Qur’an have been selected and grouped into individual chapters, and then the corresponding verses on each selected topic have been collected from different Surahs. As a result, verses related to specific topics have been compiled into thirty distinct chapters, which serve to uphold the diverse aspects of human life as conveyed in the Qur’an. Additionally, all the quoted verses are accompanied by their English translations. The bracketed numbers at the end of the quoted Ayat indicate the sequential order of the related Surah and verses.
Acquiring knowledge of the Qur’an is a must for Muslims of all languages. To this end, this book was first compiled and published in the Bengali language for Bangla-speaking people. English, being an international language, is widely used as a medium of instruction in many countries. So, the study of the Holy Qur’an in English is a necessity of the day. Both printed and online web versions of “Topic–based Verses of Al–Qur’an” have been prepared to meet the needs of new generations of Muslim migrants living in English-speaking countries of the world. It will serve as a handy reference book for the seekers of Qur’anic knowledge, like academicians, scholars, researchers, students, and ordinary people.
In spite of all efforts, some related verses of some topics might have been missed, but most of the relevant verses of the selected topics of the Qur’an have been quoted in this book. Some more important topics from the Holy Qur’an have been included in this English version to enrich its contents for the readers. I would appreciate any constructive comments and suggestions from the readers of this book for further improvements.
While quoting translations of the verses, the online English translations of the Qur’an by renowned translators like Abdullah Yusuf Ali and Talal Itani have been studied and followed in this respect. In a few cases, translations done by Mufti Afzal Hoosen Elias and Maulana Wahiduddin Khan were taken into consideration. I acknowledge their work with deep gratitude. May Allah (SWT) bestow upon them immense blessings and rewards! In the introduction of some topics, a few words in the light of Deen Islam have been added.
I would like to thank Mr. Fahmi Atwian for his valuable comments and suggestions on some of the topics of this compilation. May Allah (SWT) reward him with enormous blessings. I also thank Mr. Tanvir A. Choudhury of the Michigan Islamic Institute, USA, for his valuable advice with respect to the publication of this book.
There might be some unintentional mistakes in this book. It is my earnest request to the readers that if any mistake is found, they would be kind enough to inform me with comments so that necessary corrections may be made in the next edition. I dedicate all my efforts in the compilation of this book, done with my insignificant knowledge, to the Almighty Allah as His tiniest slave. I express my profound gratitude to Him that He has given me the opportunity to complete this noble work of compilation. In exchange, may Allah accept my work and grant me salvation from the hellfire of Akhirah! Ameen!

“O Allah, grant me comfort in my loneliness in the grave.
O Allah, have mercy on me through the Glorious Qur’an.
Make it for me a leader, a light, a guidance, and a mercy.
O Allah, remind me of what I forget from it,
and teach me from it what I do not know.
Grant me its recitation during the hours of the night and the hours of the day,
and make it a proof in my favor, O Lord of the worlds.”
